42 inch or 48 inch?
This is the size band where a single-sink vanity stops being a fixture and starts being furniture. At 42 inches you get a comfortable basin with real counter on both sides, in a footprint that still fits a standard bathroom wall without dominating it. At 48 inches you gain another half-foot of counter and cabinet, which in practice is the difference between storing what you use daily and storing what you use daily plus everything else. Forty-eight inches is also the width at which two basins become just about possible, which is why a handful of 48-inch doubles appear here, though 60 inches is the size we would normally point you to for a genuine double. Both widths are 22 inches deep, a standard depth that clears most door swings and keeps walking room in front.
Floating and freestanding designs
The Hampton Floating and Houston Floating models mount to the wall and leave the floor visible underneath. At 42 and 48 inches that is a meaningful choice rather than a cosmetic one, because a cabinet of this size sitting on the floor takes up visual weight that a wall-hung one does not; the exposed floor makes the room read larger and simplifies cleaning. Floating models need a wall that can carry the load and plumbing that exits through the wall rather than the floor. The freestanding designs, including Charlotte, Sonoma, Manhattan, Elizabeth, Pasadena, Malibu and Atlanta, rest on the floor and conceal the plumbing behind the base, which makes them the simpler swap when you are replacing an existing vanity without moving pipes.
Flat fronts, reeded fronts and curved edges
The lines here differ mainly in how the fronts are treated. Sonoma is the reeded design, with vertical fluting running across the fronts to give texture and shadow. Atlanta is the fluted line, where the same idea is cut into solid oak so the channels expose grain running through them. Houston is the curved-edge design, softened at the corners rather than squared off. Charlotte, Manhattan, Elizabeth, Pasadena, Malibu and Hampton give you flatter, quieter fronts where the oak grain itself is the detail. If you want the texture to be the story, go reeded or fluted; if you want the wood to be the story, the plainer lines show more uninterrupted grain.
Countertops and installation
Depending on the design, tops are available in quartz or natural Carrara marble, finished with a mitered or cove edge. Pale oak takes both well: a white or near-white quartz keeps the whole piece light and quiet, while Carrara adds grey veining that picks up cooler tones in the oak. The countertop is stone and ships in its own protective box rather than attached to the cabinet, with the undermount basin set at installation. Plan for an installer or plumber on delivery day.
